X1 Pro Gen 4: Freewheel & Chainring Replacement Guide



Overview

This guide explains how to replace the freewheel and chainring sprockets safely and correctly.


Tools Needed

  • Hex wrenches
  • Chain whip or pliers
  • Heat gun (optional)
  • Loctite 242 (blue)
  • Clean cloth


Step 1: Remove the Freewheel

  1. Unscrew the 3 small bolts from the freewheel mounting bracket.
  2. Carefully remove the freewheel.
  3. Take off the motor chain.
  4. (If needed) Unplug the torque sensor cable (blue) from the controller.


Step 2: Separate the Chainring Assembly

  1. Unscrew the chainring bolts.
    • Use heat if bolts are tight.
  2. Note the order of washers and spacers for reassembly.


Step 3: Replace the Chainring

  1. Swap out the chainring.
  2. Apply Loctite 242 to the bolts.
  3. Tighten bolts securely.


Step 4: Reassemble Everything

  1. Put the chain back on the chainring and motor sprocket.
  2. Bolt the assembly back onto the bracket with the 3 screws.
  3. Reconnect any cables and mount the motor back to the frame.
