X1 Pro Gen 4: Freewheel & Chainring Replacement Guide
Overview
This guide explains how to replace the freewheel and chainring sprockets safely and correctly.
Tools Needed
- Hex wrenches
- Chain whip or pliers
- Heat gun (optional)
- Loctite 242 (blue)
- Clean cloth
Step 1: Remove the Freewheel
- Unscrew the 3 small bolts from the freewheel mounting bracket.
- Carefully remove the freewheel.
- Take off the motor chain.
- (If needed) Unplug the torque sensor cable (blue) from the controller.
Step 2: Separate the Chainring Assembly
- Unscrew the chainring bolts.
- Use heat if bolts are tight.
- Note the order of washers and spacers for reassembly.
Step 3: Replace the Chainring
- Swap out the chainring.
- Apply Loctite 242 to the bolts.
- Tighten bolts securely.
Step 4: Reassemble Everything
- Put the chain back on the chainring and motor sprocket.
- Bolt the assembly back onto the bracket with the 3 screws.
- Reconnect any cables and mount the motor back to the frame.
