A-65 Battery: Replacing the Battery Button

A-65 Battery: Replacing the Battery Button

Steps:

1. Remove all exterior screws

Using the appropriate screwdriver, unscrew all screws securing the outer shell of the battery. This will loosen the side plate for removal. Keep the screws in a safe container to avoid losing them.

2. Remove the side bolt

Locate the bolt on the same side as the button. Using the correct tool, remove this bolt completely. This will free the side plate for the next step.

3. Detach the side plate

Insert a suitable tool (such as a plastic pry tool) into the bolt hole and carefully pry the battery side plate away from the main body. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damage to the housing.

4. Watch for internal cables

⚠️ Caution: There is a cable directly beneath the side plate. Lift the plate gently and slowly to avoid pulling or damaging any internal wiring.

5. Disconnect the plug

From the inside of the battery side, push on the socket gently and pull apart the plug from the socket to disconnect it. Ensure you hold both ends securely to avoid stress on the wires.

6. Remove potting material

Using a small tool, carefully clear away all potting material (sealant) from the exposed side of the battery case. Take care not to damage any wires or components while removing the sealant.

7. Disconnect the remaining cable

Locate and detach the remaining cable connected to the battery plate. Pull gently to unplug it fully.

8. Clear potting around the button

Remove all potting material surrounding the button to expose its threads for removal. Ensure no debris falls into the battery enclosure.

9. Unscrew and remove the button

Using the appropriate tool (such as pliers or a socket wrench depending on the button type), unthread and remove the button from its position.

10. Install the new button

Insert the replacement button into the opening and begin threading it into place by hand to avoid cross-threading.

11. Tighten the button

Use your tool to securely tighten the new button, ensuring it is firmly seated but not over-tightened, which may damage the threads or button housing.

12. Reconnect the cable

Plug the cable back into its socket and push firmly to ensure it is fully seated and secured.

13. Apply Kafuter gel around the button

Apply Kafuter gel sealant around the perimeter of the button to fully seal any gaps between the button and battery side plate, maintaining waterproof integrity.

14. Seal the battery case perimeter

Run a bead of Kafuter gel around the entire perimeter of the battery case where the side plate meets the main body. This prevents water ingress.

15. Seal the side plate edges

Apply Kafuter gel along all edges of the side plate to ensure a complete and effective seal.

16. Reconnect the main cable

Plug the main cable back onto the battery body and check that it is fully inserted and locked into place.

17. Reinstall the side plate

Align the side plate correctly onto the battery case. Thread in and tighten all exterior screws securely to hold the assembly together.

18. Replace the side bolt

Finally, reinsert the large bolt you removed earlier and tighten it securely to complete the reassembly.

⚠️ Final Check: Ensure all seals are intact, cables are securely connected, and the button functions properly before powering on or reinstalling the battery into your system.
